Match Summary

From the coach: The team was equal to the task for the first quarter, but with 16 players against 16 and no bench, the Nomads were at a significant disadvantage.

A special mention goes to the first-gamers who helped ensure the team could take the field: Lachie Haycock, John Irving-Frost and Matt Collins (57).

Despite the result, there were important lessons taken from the weekend. Donovan Hansell stepped into a mobile ruck role, Simon Li continued to work tirelessly, and Toby Colless impressed after transitioning from soccer to AFL.

Oskar Brookshaw continues to develop as a defender, while John Irving-Frost remains a natural backline player at heart. The 57-year-old debutant showed that he was there to compete, not just make up the numbers.

While it was a tough watch for the coach, the group learned more from this loss than many wins.

In the women’s game, the team unfortunately had to forfeit.
