The New England Nomads showed genuine signs of promise in their first game of the year, going down 6.7.43 to the Tamworth Kangaroos 11.8.74. At half time the Nomads were only two poiunts behind but fell away in the second half scoriong only one goal to the Roos four. Best players for the Nomads were Matt Davies, Eric Le Mesurier, Cotter Litchfield, Rory Matthews, Bobby Boyd. David “Modra” Richards and Oskar Brookshaw. There were 6 players scoring a goal each.
The most pleasing part of the performance was the form of new players such as Eric Le Mesurier, Matt Davies (with the silky skills), and Tom Williams. We look forward to vast improvement over the next few weeks as the players come to learn each other’s games.
Unfortunately, the women’s game was a forfeit with the university holidays affecting numbers.
