Match Summary
On 17 May, the Nomads men recorded their first win in nearly two years with a strong performance over the Gunnedah Bulldogs at Wolseley Oval.
The Nomads led throughout the match, doing most of their damage in the first half before controlling the contest to secure a 30-point victory.
Early on, the side capitalised on strong forward pressure, with scoring opportunities flowing despite some inaccuracy in the second half. The final quarter was goalless, but the damage had already been done.
A strong contribution came from the Robb College group, with Charlie Keiller influential in the midfield, Gus Russell dominant in the ruck, and Dylan Piper-Bye outstanding at full back, holding the opposition key forward to a low return.
Aidan Barry played a key role across half back, helping transition the ball into attacking positions, while Hunter Greene and Oskar Brookshaw both contributed strongly.
Jimmy Walters was a standout in attack, finishing with four goals and providing constant pressure inside 50.
“Choco” returned to the side in typical energetic fashion, though he left the ground with a head gash requiring more than superglue treatment.
Despite some missed opportunities in the second half, the Nomads were well served by early dominance and solid defensive structure.
It must also be noted that Gunnedah’s inaccuracy in front of goal early kept the margin manageable.
